Chap. 150.—An ACT to appropriate $780.65 to reimburse Marshall M. Milton
for expenditures made and bills incurred by him in the organization and
recruiting of the fifth company, Virginia coast artillery, between the
time of its muster Into State service, July 2, 1917, and its muster into
federal service July 25, 1917. [H B 274]

Whereas, it appears that between Julv second, nineteen hun-
dred and seventeen, on which date the organization was mustered
into the State service of this Commonwealth, and its mustering into
the federal service on July twenty-fifth. nineteen hundred and seven-
teen, Marshall M. Milton, captain, fifth company, Virginia coast
artillery, expended money and incurred indebtedness for which he is
personally responsible, aggregating seven hundred and eighty
dollars and sixty-five cents, which expenditures and indebtedness
were necessary in the recruiting of the said military organization as
a part of Virginia’s contribution to the national guard service in
time of war; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
sum of seven hundred and eighty dollars and sixty-five cents be,
and the same is hereby, appropriated out of any money in the treas-
ury of the Commonwealth not heretofore appropriated for the pur-
pose of re-imbursing Marshall M. Milton, of Roanoke, Virginia,
now captain, fifth company, Virginia coast artillery, stationed at
Fortress Monroe, Virginia, and to pay bills incurred by him, as
aforesaid.
2. That the auditor of public accounts be, and he 1s hereby au-
thorized, empowered and directed to forthwith draw his warrant in
favor of Marshall M. Milton on the treasurer of Virginia, for the
sum of seven hundred and eighty dollars and sixty-five cents, for
the purpose in this act stated.
3. All acts and parts of acts in conflict herewith, be and the
same are hereby repealed.
