1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion four of an act to provide for working and keeping in repair
the public roads and bridges of Page county, and for opening new
roads and changing locations of existing roads, approved February
second, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 2. Each overseer of roads shall be required to expend
the income at his disposal, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
in working and keeping in repair the roads and bridges in his dis-
trict, in conformity with the rules and regulations to be adopted
by the said board, and for his services shall receive a compensation
of two dollars ($2.00) per day for each day he is engaged in work-
ing on the roads and bridges in his district.
