Chap. 102.—An ACT to authorize the town council of the town of Bedford.
Virginia, to convey a part of the street, in said town, known as Railroad
avenue, to the Bedford Can Company, Inc. [H B 316}
Approved March 6, 1918.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
town council of the town of Bedford, Virginia, be and it hereby is
authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to convev by proper
deed to the Bedford Can company, incorporated, a certain strip or
parcel of land in said town, being a part of Railroad avenue, a
street in the said town, which said strip of land is described as fol-
lows, to-wit:
Beginning at an iron pipe set in concrete retaining wall (one
foot south of the north point of said wall), thence along the south
edge of Railroad avenue, north eighty-nine degrees, fifteen minutes
west two hundred and ninety-four feet to the east edge of the cross
‘treet thence a new line, continuing the east edge of said cross street
north seventeen degrees, thirty minutes east fifteen and six-tenths
feet, thence a new line running forty-five feet south of, and parallel
vith, the north edge of Railroad avenue south eighty-nine degrees
ifteen minutes east two hundred and ninety feet, thence due south
ifteen feet to the beginning, containing ten-hundredths of an acre
Such conveyance will be made, however, only upon condition that
he abutting lot owners, situated on said street, who have built o1
urchased in the reliance of the perpetual public easement in saic
reet, be compensated for any damages they may sustain by reasor
f such conveyance.
2. Whereas the Bedford Can company, incorporated, is in im
ediate need of the aforesaid lot or parcel of land, for their business
