Chap. 7.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 31 of an act entitled an act
to amend and re-enact an act to incorporate the town of Stuart, in the
county of Patrick, approved November 22, 1884, which was approved
March 11, 1910. (H. B. 15)

Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section thirty-
one of an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act to incorporate
the town of Stuart in the county of Patrick, approved November twenty-
second, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, which was approved March
eleventh, nineteen hundred and ten, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:
Section 31. The council of said town shall annually cause to be
made up and entered on their journal an account of all sums lawfully
chargeable on the town which ought to be paid within one year, and
order a town levy of so much as in their opinion, not exceeding one
dollar on one hundred dollars assessed valuation, as is necessary to be
raised in that way, in addition to what may be received for license and
other sources. The levy so ordered may be upon male persons in the
said town above the age of twenty-one years, not exceeding one dollar
upon each of such persons, and upon the property therein, and on such
other subjects as may at the time be assessed with State or county taxes.
The town of Stuart having recently issued bonds to establish a water
works and sewerage system for the said town, the payment of the in-
terest on which requires an increase In the town’s revenue for the present
year, an emergency is declared to exist, and this act shall be in force
from its passage.
