Chap. 54.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sub-section 1 of section 1913-b of
the Code of Virginia (1904), with reference to the size of barrels used for
shipment of agricultural products, commonly called truck. (H. B. 48)

Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sub-section
one of section nineteen hundred and thirteen-b, of the Code of Virginia,
ie hundred and four, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
ollows:
It shall be unlawful for any person in the State of Virginia to use
in the shipment of those agricultural products commonly called truck a
barrel which falls short in any dimension of the minimum limits herein-
after set forth, to-wit: The staves shall not be less than twenty-seven
and one-half inches Jong; and the head, or heads, shall be not less than
seventeen and one-eighth inches in diameter. If double headed, or used
with wood or other rigid heads set inside the staves at both ends,
the barrel shall measure not less than eighteen and one-half inches across
at the bilge, inside; and the distance between the heads, measured on a
straight line inside the barrel, shall be not less than twenty-four and
one-half inches; and if single headed, or used with the top end open or
covered with burlap or cotton goods or other flexible material, then the
barrel shall measure not less than sixteen and one-half inches across at
the top, inside the staves, and not less than nineteen inches across at the
bilge, inside; and the distance from the head in the bottom of the barrel
to the top ends of the staves, measured on a straight line inside the
barrel, shall be not less than twenty-six inches;
Provided, however, that any barrel of different dimensions from
those specified above but having the same, or not less than the same cubi-
cal contents or holding capacity, shall be a lawful barrel.
Any perosn violating this section shall be fined not less than one nor
more than five dollars for each offense; and the use of each barrel so
prohibited to be used shall constitute a separate offense.
