twenty-six cents ($1,256.26), the unexpended balance of four thousand
dollars ($4.000) appropriated to provide walkway around the Confederate
soldiers home, and curb and gutter around the battle abbey, by act ap-

act to appropriate the public revenue for the two fiscal years ending
respectively on the twenty-eighth day of February, nineteen hundred and
fifteen, and the twenty-ninth day of February, nineteen hundred and six-
teen, so as that the said unexpended balance may be drawn from the
State treasury at any time prior to March the first, nineteen hundred
and sixteen, to carry out the purposes for which originally appropriated
and for the further purpose of necessary ornamentation of the ground of
the battle abbey. } (S. B. 82)
Approved February 15, 1915.
Whereas the general assembly, by act approved March twenty-third,
nineteen hundred and fourteen entitled an act to appropriate the public
revenue for the two fiscal years ending, respectively, on the twenty-eighth
day of February, nineteen hundred and fifteen, and the twenty-ninth day
of February nineteen hundred and sixteen, made an appropriation for
four thousand dollars ($4,000) or so much thereof as may be necessary,
to the Confederate memorial (battle abbey) association, for walkway
around the confederate soldiers home and for curb and gutter work
around the battle abbey, and
Whereas there remains unexpended twelve hundred and fifty-six
dollars and twenty-six cents ($1,256.26) of said appropriation which by
operation of the law will lapse into the State treasury if not used prior
to March first, nineteen hundred and fifteen, and
Whereas it is desired by the general assembly of Virginia, That this
unexpended balance may be used for the original purpose for which it was
appropriated and for the further purpose of necessary ornamentation of
the grounds, so as to add to the attractiveness of the battle abbey as
a memorial, therefore;
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts is authorized, at any time prior to March first,
nineteen hundred and sixteen to pay the sum of twelve hundred and fifty-
six dollars and twenty-six cents ($1,256.26), or so much thereof as may
be necessary out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated
for said walkway, curb, gutter work and ornamentation, upon the orders
of the president of said association and lieutenant-governor of Virginia.
