Chap. 41.—An ACT to authorize the county of Spotsylvania to purchase lands
delinquent for taxes and levies or other lands for the purpose of main-
taining the historic landmarks on the great battlefields of that county
or for forest preserves. (H. B. 53)

Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
of Spotsylvania be and is hereby authorized in the manner provided by
law for the purchase of delinquent lands and the purchase of other lands
for county purposes, to purchase such lands as the board of supervisors
of said county in their judgment may think proper for the purpose of
maintaining the historic landmarks on the battlefields of that county and
for forest preserves and to dispose of them by gift or sale to the United
States government should it decide to establish a national battlefield
park in that county and section or otherwise as said board may think
proper. .
The said county through its board of supervisors and other officers
shall have all necessary powers for the preservation, protection and con-
trol of any such lands that any private owner would have and may sue
and be sued in connection therewith or prosecute for trespass thereon.
