Chap. 136.—An ACT declaring who shall be entitled to vote in any special
election upon the question of the removal of a courthouse. (H. B. 120)
Approved March 18, 1915.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That in any
special election upon the question of the removal of a court house, the
qualification of voters shall be such as are prescribed by the general law,
provided the following persons only shall be qualified to vote at such
election. All persons who were qualified to vote at the November election
preceding, and all other persons who are otherwise qualified and have
personally paid at least six months prior to the second Tuesday in June
of the year in which the election is to be held, all State poll taxes assessed
or assessable against them during the three years next preceding the
year in which the said election is held; and all other persons who shall
become of lawful age at a time when no capitation tax was assessable
against them and shall thereafter register by reason of becoming of law-
ful age prior to the date fixed for holding the election.
2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act are to such
extent repealed.
3. Because of certain special elections about to be held and it being
desirable to define clearly the electorate in such special elections, an
emergency is declared to exist, and this act shall be in force from its
passage. -
