Chap. 86.—An ACT to provide for the encouragement, maintencnce and
supervision of industrial, agricultura', household arts and commercia!

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the State board of education is hereby authorized and directed to
investigate and to assist in the introduction of industrial, agricul-
tural, household arts and-commercial education; to aid local school
authorities to initiate and superintend the establishment and main-
tenance of schools and departments of schools or other agencies for
the aforesaid forms of education; to inspect such schools, depart-
ments and agencies, and to allow to such schools and departments
as are approved by said board, the moneys to which such schools
and departments may be entitled from time to time out of funds
appropriated by the general assembly for the benefit of such forms
of education.
2. Any school district may, through the district school board
thereof, establish all-day, part-time or continuation or evening
classes giving industrial, agricultural, household arts or commercial
education and provide for the support thereof in the same manner
as for the regular schools of said district. Such education shall be
of less than college grade and be designed to meet the vocational
needs of persons over fourteen years of age who are able to profit
by the instruction offered.
