Chap. 51.—An ACT to provide a permanent record of soldiers, sailors, or
marines from the State of Virginia who served with the military or
naval forces of the United States with Spain, or subsequently in the
Philippines, prior to July 4, 1902. (H. B. 125.)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be the duty of the adjutant general of Virginia to proceed
forthwith to prepare a permanent record of soldiers, sailors or
marines who were commissioned or enlisted men from the State of
Virginia, and who served with the military or naval forces of the
United States during the war with Spain or the subsequent insur-
rection in the Philippine Islands, prior to July four, nineteen hun-
dred and two.
Upon the written request of said soldier, sailor or marine, with
the information duly verified by affidavit, it shall be the duty of the
adjutant general to cause to be entered on said record the name of
said soldier, sailor or marine, the date and place of his enlistment,
the company and regiment, or ship, with which he served, the
date, place and nature of his discharge, and his last known place of
address.
