Chap. 357.—An ACT to allow the boards of supervisors of counties to es-
tablish and maintain public sewers where necessary. (S. B. 198.)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of any county shall have power to estab-
lish and maintain, or to cause to be established and maintained,
public sewers in any incorporated town, village, or suburbs of any
city, where the same shall be necessary to protect the public health:
and the owners of adjacent lands shall have the right to connect
their premises with such sewers on such terms as the board of su-
pervisors shall prescribe.
2. But in the case of any county having a commission of roads
and bridges, the powers herein conferred upon the board of super-
visors may be exercised only by such commission.
