Chap. 266.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Bedford county
to borrow money to build or improve the courthouse and clerk’s office,
and to issue bonds therefor. (H, B. 517)

Whereas, it is important that the board of supervisors of Bed-
ford county shall have authority to borrow money for the purpose
of improving or building a new courthouse and clerk’s office for
said county, without the delay and expense incident to submitting
the proposed improvement to a popular election; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of Bedford county shall have the author-
ity, in their discreticn, to borrow such sum or sums of money as
may be necessary for the purpceses aforesaid, and in pursuance of
said authority, the said board shall issue bonds of the said county,
signed by the chairman of the said board of supervisors and its
clerk, in such denominations as the said beard shall deem advisable,
bearing a rate of interest nct exceeding six percentum per annum;
the said beard shall fix the date of the maturity of said bonds,
reserving the right: to redeem the said bonds at their face value
with any accrued interest that may be due thereon, any time after
five years from the date cf said bonds.
