Chap. 201.—An ACT to amend section 79 and section 100 of an act to in-
corporate the city of Newport News, in the county of Warwick, and pro-
vide a charter therefor. (H. B. 364.)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
sections seventy-nine and one hundred of an act to incorporate the
city of Newport News, in the county of Warwick, and provide a
charter therefor, be amended and reordained to read as follows:

Sec. 79. The auditor shall receive such salary as shall be
prescribed by the council, not exceeding twelve hundred dollars
per annum. and the same shall not be diminished during his term
of office. He shall give bond in a sum of not less than ten thou-
sand dollars, with some surety or guaranty company as surety
thereon, as may be approved by the council.

Sec. 100. The salary cf the city engineer shall be fixed by
the council at not less than six hundred dollars nor more than two
thousand dollars per annum.
