Chap. 143.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Spotsylvania
county to pay for turkeys killed by dogs out of any excess in the dog
tax fund after paying all loss or damage occasioned sheep or other stock
by dogs. (H. B. 417.)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of Spotsylvania county be, and they are,
hereby authorized, if they think proper, to apply any excess arising
from the tax on dogs in said county, as now or hereafter imposed,
after paying all loss or damages to sheep and other stock occasioned
by dogs as now provided by law, to compensate the owners of any
turkeys that may be proved to their satisfaction to have been killed
by dogs in ‘their county. Not exceeding one dollar per turkey if
killed before September first of any year and if killed after that
time not exceeding one dollar and fifty cents per turkey shall be
paid by said board. Nothing in this act shall be construed as mak-
ing it obligatory upon said board to adopt the practice of paying
for said turkeys as herein provided or to prevent them rescinding
their action and declining to pay for said turkeys any longer at any
time they think proper.
