CHAP. 346.—An ACT for the relief of the ferries company.
Approved March 23rd, 1912.
Whereas, State taxes for the vears nineteen hundred and
nine, nineteen hundred and ten and nineteen hundred and eleven
were assessed against the county of Norfolk and city of Ports-
mouth, Virginia, on certain real estate situated in the city of
Norfolk and known as the Norfolk county ferry terminals; and
Whereas, said taxes have been determined by the circuit court
of the city of Norfolk, Virginia, to be illegal and said real estate
non-assessable for State taxation; and
Whereas, the ferries company, operating said ferries, paid
the State taxes for the years nineteen hundred and nine, nine-
teen hundred and ten and nineteen hundred and eleven as fol-
lows: For the year nineteen hundred and nine, three hundred
and one dollars and thirty-five cents; for the year nineteen hun-
dred and ten, three hundred and thirty dollars and five cents; for
the year nineteen hundred and eleven, three hundred and sixty-
one dollars, without knowledge of the fact that such State taxes
had been declared illegal and said property declared non-assess-
able for State taxation; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, directed to
draw his warrant on the treasurer of the city of Norfolk for
the sum of nine hundred and ninety-two dollars and forty cents
in favor of the ferries company.
2. There being an emergency for this act, it shall take effect
from its passage.
