CHAP. 314.—An ACT to require cities and towns in the State, institutions
of learning, and eleemosvnary and other institutions to deposit two
copies of each of their publications in the Virginia State library.
Approved March 14th, 1912.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the mayor of each city or town in the commonwealth be re-
quired to send regularly, at time of publication, to the Virginia
State library, two copies of each of the official publications of
the city or town; and he shall be required also to send to the
Virginia State library two copies of each official publication of
former years of which the supply has not been exhausted at the
time this act goes into effect.
Official publications for the purpose of this act shall mean
the printed reports, in pamphlet or book form, of the officials of
the city or town, the printed volumes of the ordinances, and such
other special publications as the city or town may authorize to be
printed.
Be it also enacted that each institution of learing and each
eleemosynary institution in the State, receiving any appropria-
tion from the State shall be required to send to the State library
two copies of each of the books, pamphlets, catalogues, bulletins,
or circulars published by such institution; and other institu-
tions of learning in the State are required to do the same.
One set of publications so received is to be retained as a
permanent deposit at the State library, and shall not be used
for circulation outside of the library building.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
