CHAP. 285.—An ACT to change the name of the wharf now called Wheal-
ton to Morattico, in the county of Lancaster, Virginia.
Approved March 14, 1912.
Whereas, the postoffice formerly called Whealton, located in
the county of Lancaster, has recently been changed to Morattico,
by which name it is now known on the records of the postoffice
department; and
Whereas, further, the wharf located at this place and on the
Rappahannock river has also heretofore been known as Whealton ;
and
Whereas, further confusion arises from the fact that the post-
office is known by one name and the wharf by the other, and the
transportation company now touching at this wharf refuses to
accept shipments from Morattico, but demands that such ship-
ments must be marked as coming from and going to Whealton;
now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
wharf heretofore called Whealton and located in the county of
Lancaster and on the Rappahannock river, be, and is hereafter,
called Morattico.
2. This act being an emergency, it shall go into force from the
day of its passage.
