CHAP. 267.—An ACT to make the unauthorized use of automobiles or motor
vehicles a misdemeanor.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
any chauffeur or other person who, without the consent of the
owner, shall take, or cause to be taken, from a garage, stable or
other building or place, an automobile or motor vehicle, and
operate or drive, or cause the same to be operated or driven for
his own private use or purpose, shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished accord-

ingly.
