CHAP. 250.—An ACT to remove the obstructions across and in Sandy
creek, between the old ford, in Halifax county, below the bridge across
said creek at Henrvy’s mill, and the source of said stream in Pittsyl-
vania county.

Whereas, it is represented that the inhabitants of Halifax
and Pittsylvania counties, living contiguous to Sandy creek, be-
tween a point four hundred yards above the old ford, in Halifax
county, just below the bridge across Sandy creek at Henry’s mill,
and the source of said stream in Pittsylvania county, are suffer-
ing with malaria which emanates from the standing water in
said stream; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be unlawful for any landowner or tenant in the posses-
sions of lands lying on Sandy creek between the old ford, in
Halifax county just below the bridge across Sandy creek, at
Henry’s mill, and the head of said stream, in Pittsylvania county,
to allow any obstructions to be or to remain across the channel
of said stream, or in the bed thereof, at any point where said
stream runs through or across the lands of said persons.
Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof,
shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars, nor
more than one hundred dollars.
2. This act shall be in force on and after the first day of
July, nineteen hundred and twelve.
