CHAP. 236.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 1527 of chapter 67
of the Code of Virginia, as amended by an act of the general as-
sembly, entitled “an act to amend and re-enact chapter 67 of the
Code of Virginia, in relation to public free schools in cities and towns,
constituting separate school districts,” so as to provide that certain
officers shall not be eligible to more than one office.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section fifteen hundred and twenty-seven of chapter sixty-seven
of the Code of Virginia, as amended by an act of the general
assembly of Virginia, entitled “an act to amend and re-enact
chapter sixty-seven of the Code of Virginia, in relation to pub-
lic free schools in cities and towns, constituting separate school
districts,” be, and it is hereby, amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows: :
$1527. Who ineligible as division superintendent or clerk of
school board.—No mayor, member of council, or treasurer or
other officer of a city, town or county shall be eligible to the office
of division superintendent of schools of such city, town or
county, or the clerk of a school board of such city, town or
county: provided, that nothing herein contained shall apply to
towns of less than one thousand inhabitants.
