CHAP. 232.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 5 of an act approved
January 18, 1896, entitled an act to amend and re-enact section 5 of
an act approved March 8, 1875, entitled an act to incorporate the
town of Glade Spring in Washington county.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section five of an act approved January eighteenth, eighteen
hundred and ninety-six, entitled an act to amend and re-enact
section five of an act approved March eighth, eighteen hundred
and seventy-five, entitled an act to incorporate the town of Glade
Spring in Washington county, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:
$5. For the execution of its powers and duties the council
of the said town, shall annually order a levy upon each male
citizen above the age of twenty-one years, not to exceed one dol-
lar and fifty cents, and upon all the real and personal property
in said town, taxable by the State, and on such other subjects
as may be assessed with State taxes against persons residing
therein, in addition to what may be received from licenses and
other sources, for the purpose of supporting its government,
meeting its indebtedness and defraying its expenses; provided,
however, that said taxes on real and personal property shall not
exceed one dollar upon the one hundred dollars’ assessed value
thereof.
