CHAP. 204.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section five of the charter of
the town of Highland Park.
Approved March 18, 1912.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section five of an act entitled ‘“‘an act to incorporate the town of
Highland Park, in the county of Henrico, Virginia,’ approved
March fourteenth, nineteen hundred and eight, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$5. The said town council shall have the power to lay off,
open and improve streets, sidewalks and alleys and to alter, close
or abandon or re-open the same, in whole or in part, and in
case of the closing, vacating or abandoning of any street, side-
walk or allev, or any part thereof, the same may, in the discretion
of the said council, be used by the said town for other public
purposes.
The said town council shall have further power to adopt any
and all ordinances and to enforce the same for the regulation of
and the improvement of the said town, subject, however, to the
eeneral statutes of the State of Virginia pertaining to towns.
2. An emergency existing by reason of the necessity for the
immediate closing of certain streets, this act shall be in force
from its passage.
