Chap. 197.—An ACT to authorize the county of Elizabeth City to ex-
pend certain monev in the sinking fund of said county for the re-
pair of Hampton bridge.

Whereas, after retiring the bridge bonds, for the payment of
which a sinking fund was created, there is in the hands of the
county treasurer of Elizabeth City county, in said sinking fund,
a balance of one thousand and seventy-nine dollars and seven-
teen cents, and certain interest thereon accrued; and
Whereas, the board of supervisors of said county has no au-
thority under the law to appropriate and expend the said sum
for any county purposes whatever; and
Whereas, the ‘““Hampton bridge,” for the construction of
which the original bonds so retired were issued, is greatly in
need of repair; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of Elizabeth City county be, and it
is hereby, authorized and directed to appropriate and expend
the remainder of said sinking fund in repairing said ‘Hampton
bridge’ in such manner as to the said board may seem proper.
