1. Re it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section sixteen hundred and ninety-eight of the Code of Virgiiua
be amended and re-enacted to read as follows:

$1698. If a person residing in this State, not so found, be
suspected to be insane, the court of the county or corporation
of which such person is an inhabitant, shall, on the application
of any party interested, proceed to examine into the state of
mind of such person, and upon being satisfied that such person
is insane, such court shall appoint one or two persons as ccm-
mittee of such person. ~
