CHAP. 113.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled, “An act au-
thorizing the Board of Supervisors of Henrico county to require osage
orange hedges bordering on public roads of said county to be trimmed
by owners of such hedges and to impose a fine for failure to comply,”
which became a law December 20, 1897, by enlarging the powers of the
said Board of Supervisors.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled, “An act authorizing the board of supervisors
of Henrico county to require osage orange hedges bordering on
public roads of said county to be trimmed by owners of such
hedges and to impose a fine for failure to comply,” which be-
came a law December twentieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-
seven, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows: The
board of supervisors of Henrico county shall have the power
to require owners of land bordering on the public roads of said
county to trim any hedges or shrubbery or remove any trees
which, in their judgment, may injure said roads in any manner
or interfere with public travel and the proper working of said
roads. The said board of supervisors of said county shall no-
tify in writing any such owner that he must trim said hedges
or shrubbery or remove the same, or cut down any tree or
trees which, in their judgment, should be removed, within
thirty days from the date of the service of said notice, and in
case the said owner refuses to comply with said notice the said
board of supervisors may proceed to trim said hedges or re-
move the same or the said trees at the cost of the said owner.
