Chap. 46.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 18 of the charter of the
town of Suffolk as heretofore amended.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
cighteen of the charter of the town of Suffolk, as heretofore amended by
acts approved, respectively, February eighth, eighteen hundred and
eighty-six, and February fifteenth, nineteen hundred, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$18. Whenever any business, trade, occupation, calling, or any other
thing, is to be done within the town of Suffolk for which a State license
is or may, under the Constitution of this State, or the constitution and laws
of the United States, be required, the council may require a town license
to be had for coing the same, and may impose a tax thereupon for the
use of the town before any person, firm or corporation shall be permitted
to pursue such business, trade, occupation, calling, or any other thing,
within the corporate limits of said town.
