Chap. 8.—An ACT to legalize an election held in the corporation of Chase City,
Mecklenburg county, Virginia, on the 9th of June, 1903, for the purpose of
issuing bonds of the town for macadamizing streets and other town improve-
ments and indebtedness.
Approved February 8, 1904.
Whereas, an election held in the corporation of Chase City on the ninth
of June, nineteen hundred and three, in accordance with the provisions
of section twenty of the charter of said town, passed by the genera] as-
sembly of Virginia on the thirtieth of January, nineteen hundred, to
take the sense of the qualified voters, and of the freeholders of said town,
upon the question of issuing not exceeding twenty thousand dollars of
town bonds, payable in twenty years, with interest, for macadamizing
streets and other town improvements and indebtedness; and,
Whereas, at the said election all, except seven, of the entire registered
voters of the town were polled, and all of the freeholders voting were
“for the issue of bonds,” and all of the non-freeholders voting, except
three, were “for issue of bonds,” and,
Whereas, the returns of said election were made and entered on the
records of the town council in pursuance to the requirements of law; and,
. Whereas, it appears that the act of May fifteenth, nineteen hundred
and three, extra session nineteen hundred and two, nineteen hundred and
three, requiring the tickets to be printed by the electoral board of the
county was unknown to the town authorities, as the acts of assembly,
extra session nineteen hundred and two-nineteen hundred and three, had
not been received ; but in all other respects the election was regular, fair,
and a full expression of the wishes of the voters and acquiesced in with
no dissent ;
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the elec-
tion held by the voters of the town of Chase City, Virginia, on the ninth
of June, nineteen hundred and three, is hereby legalized to all intents
and purposes for which it was held.
