Chap. 76.—An ACT to empower the council of the city of Danville to borrow
$50,000 on temporary loan in addition to the amount now allowed by the city
charter.

Whereas, the necessity exists with the city of Danville to improve and
reconstruct its water works at once, and it will be necessary to issue
bonds to provide the funds for making said improvements, and the ques-
tion of the issue of bonds cannot be passed on before the June, nineteen
hundred and four, election; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the council
of the city of Danville shall have power and authority, in the name and
for the use and benefit of said city, to borrow on temporary loans, in
addition to the amount of temporary loans now allowed by the city char-
ter, fifty thousand dollars for a period not exceeding twelve months, for
the purpose of improving and reconstructing the city water works, and
to issue notes or other evidences of debt therefor: provided, that the
amount of the bonds so issued, when added to the other bonded indebted-
ness, shall not exceed the amount expressed in the Constitution.
2. An emergency existing therefor, this act shall be in force -from its
passage.
