Chap. 65.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the twelfth article of section 183 of
the Code of Virginia, as amended and re-enacted by an act entitled an act to
amend and re-enact title 8 of the Code of Virginia, in relation to salaries, mile
age, and other allowances, approved February 7, 1903.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the twelfth
article of section one hundred and eighty-three of the Code, as amended
and re-enacted by an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact title eight
of the Code of Virginia, in relation to salaries, mileage, and other al-
lowances, approved February seventh, nineteen hundred and three, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Twelfth. State corporation commiesion.—The chairman of the State
corporation commission, the sum of four thousand dollars, and the other
two members of the said commission each the sum of four thousand dol-
lars ; clerk of said commission, two thousand five hundred dollars; bailiff
of said commission, twelve hundred dollars, the said bailiff to perform
the duties of bailiff and such other duties as may be prescribed by the
commission ; assistant clerk of the commission, fifteen hundred dollars;
stenographer to the commission, who shall also perform such other
clerical duties as may be assigned him by the commission, twelve hun-
dred dollars; one additional clerk, twelve hundred dollars; messenger to
the commission, six hundred dollars; and for the incidental contingent
expenses of the commission, the sum of three thousand five hundred
dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.
2%. An emergency existing on account of the congested condition of
the business, and also by reason of the commencement on the first day
of March of the terms of office of the above-mentioned officers and em-
ployees, this act shall take effect from its passage.
