Chap. 239.—An ACT authorizing prison association of Virginia to expend in cer-
tain improvements and in the installation, equipment, and conduct of ita Sloyd
manual training school the sum of $7,223.48 in its possession, being balance of
$9,100 appropriated to it under act approved April 2, 1902, appropriating the
public revenues for the two fiscal years ending, respectively, on September 30,
1902, and September 30, 1903.

Whereas, by an act approve April second, nineteen hundred and two,
appropriating the public revenue for the two fiscal years ending, respect-
ively, on September thirtieth, nineteen hundred and two, and Sep-
tember thirtieth, nineteen hundred and three, the sum of nine thousand
one hundred dollars was appropriated to the prison association of Vir-
ginia, for the purpose of erecting necessary buildings for the accom-
modation of persons committed to its custody and for the enlargement
and improvement of its present buildings; and,
Whereas, said prison association of Virginia has received said sum of
nine thousand one hundred dollars, and has spent for the purpose afore-
said, only the sum of eighteen hundred and seventy-six dollars and fifty-
two cents; and,
Whereas, the said prison association of Virginia finds that the balance
of said appropriation—to-wit, the sum of seven thousand, two hundred
and twenty-three dollars and forty-eight cents can be better and more
advantageously used in improvements in sanitation, laundry, granolithic
and similar work on its grounds, and in the installation, equipment and
conduct of its Sloyd manual training school; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted bv the general assembly of Virginia, That the said
prison association of Virginia, be, and it is hereby, authorized to use said
sum of seven thousand, two hundred and twenty-three dollars and
forty-eight cents, balance now in its hands, in improvements in sanita-
tion, laundry, granolithic, and similar work on its grounds, and in the
installation, equipment and conduct of its Sloyd manual training school:
provided, that a full report be made to the general assembly by said
association of the expenditure hereby authorized. |
