Chap. 180.—An ACT to provide offices and rooms for the use of the department
of education and public instruction, for the supreme court of appeals and to
appropriate the sum of $1,440, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the
payment of the rental thereof, and to prescribe the method of such payment.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the super-
intendent of public instruction be and he is hereby authorized and em-
red: to lease suitable offices, rooms, or buildings for the use of the
department of education and public instruction for a period not ex-
ceeding two years at a rental not exceeding sixty dollars a month; and
that the rooms in the State library building now occupied by the de-
partment of education and nublic instruction and the room that adjoins
them now used by the adjutant general of Virginia be, and they are
hereby, assigned to the supreme court of appeals for the law library o7
such use as the court may designate.
2. Be it further enacted, that the sum of fourteen hundred and forty
dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, be, and the same is
hereby, appropriated out of amy money in the treasury not otherwise
appropriated for the payment of the rental of the building or offices
hereby authorized to be leased, which shall be paid by the treasurer
upon the order of the auditor of public accounts in equal monthly insial-
ments not exceeding sixty dollars a month.
3. The needs of the sovernment requiring the immediate possession of
additional accommodations for the departments of government herein
mentioned, this act shall be in force from its passage.
