Chap. 179.—An ACT to prohibit the establishment, location, or maintenance of
small-pox hospitals.or pest-houses within fifty yards of any street, public road,
public park, or public cemetery in any city, town, or county of the Common-
wealth, or to hereafter establish any such hospital or pest-house within one
hundred and fifty yards of any public road, public park, or cemetery in any
county of the Commonwealth.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall be
unlawful for the council or board of health of any city or town, or the
board of supervisors or the board of health of any county, to establish,
locate, or maintain any hospital or pest-house for the reception or deten-
tion of patients suffering from small-pox, yellow fever, or cholera within
fifty yards of any street, public road, public park, or public cemetery, in
any city, town, or county of the Commonwealth; nor shall any such hos-
pital or pest-house be hereafter established within one hundred and fifty
yards of any public road, public park, or public cemetery in any county
of the Commonwealth.
