Chap. 160.—An ACT to amend and re-enact chapter 536, acts of assembly 1902-
703-04, approved December 31, 1903, entitled an act to authorize parties plant-
ing oysters on grounds rented from the State to erect piers, docks, or watch-
houses on the same.
Approved March 14, 1904.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That chapter
five hundred and thirty-six, acts of assembly nineteen hundred and two,
nineteen hundred and three, nineteen hundred and four, approved De-
cember thirty-first, nineteen hundred and three, entitled an act to
authorize parties planting oysters on ground rented from the State to
erect piers, docks, or watch-houses on the same, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
That any person holding planting ground rented from the State be,
and is hereby, authorized to erect thereon a pier, dock, watch-house, or
shucking house for the purpose of handling, watching, or shucking oys-
ters: provided, however, that it shall not obstruct navigation nor other-
wise injure the private rights of any person, company, or corporation,
and shall be subject to the laws of the State governing wharves, piers, or
docks: and provided, further, that this act shall not apply to any grounds
lying in front of and adjacent to the cities of the Commonwealth.
