Volume 1968 Law 99
Law Body
Chap. 1.—An ACT to continue in office the commissioners in chancery of the pres-
ent circuit courts.
Approved February 1, 1904.
Whereas, there is grave doubt whether the commissioners in chancery
of the present circuit courts may continue to act after the first day of
February, nineteen hundred and four, and there are cases pending before
said commissioners in chancery for report therein, and it is important to
at once determine and define the extent of the powers and jurisdiction of
said commissioners in chancery ; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the com-
missioners in chancery of the present circuit courts shall continue in of-
fice and shall have authority and jurisdiction to execute the duties of said
office as fully as if the present circuit courts and the circuit courts es-
tablished umder the Constitution of the State of Virginia, adopted by the
convention of nineteen hundred and one and nineteen hundred and two,
were the same; the terms of office of such commissioners in chancery to
be subject to the provisions of section thirty-three hundred and nineteen
of the Code of Virginia and the acts amendatory thereof.
2. By reason of the facts set forth in the preamble of this act, there is
an emergency that demands its immediate operation, and the same shall
be in force from its passage.
