Chap. 458.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections 194, 197, 198, and 199, and t:
repeal sections 202 and 208 of chapter 15 of the Code of Virginia.

1. Te it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sections
one hundred and ninety-four, one hundred and ninety-seven, one hun-
dred and ninety-cight. and one hundred and ninety-nine of the Code «f
Virginia be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$194. Time and place of mecting of general assembly.—The general
assembly shall meet in regular session on the second Wednesday in Jan-
uary, nineteen hundred and four, and on the second Wednesday in Jan-
uary of every alternate vear thereafter. 11 shall sit at the capitol in the
city of Richmond, but may adjourn to any other place.
$197. Civil proceedings for or against members and clerks, and their
assistants, during scssion.—Any action, suit, or other civil proceeding.
either in favor of or against a member of the general assembly, or the
clerks thereof, or their assistants, may be commenced, but shall not, un-
less by their consent, be prosecuted to final judgment or decree during the
session of the general assembly. But their person shal] not be taken into
custody or imprisoned under any civil process during the session of the
gcmeral assembly, or the fifteen days next before the beginning or after
the ending of any session.
$198. Privilege of members and clerks from arrest—During the ses-
sion of the general assembly. and for one day before and after the session
for every twenty miles he must necessarily travel to or from his home. a
member of the general assembly, the clerks thereof, and their assistants,
shall be privileged from being taken into custody or imprisoned under
any process except as provided in the following section.
$199. Qualification of privilege—No member of the general assembly
shall be privileged from arrest or imprisonment for treason, felony, or
breach of the peace.
2. Be it further enacted, That sections two hundred and two and two
hundred and cight of chapter fifteen of the Code are hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
