Chap. 374.—An ACT to prohibit advertising of any offer to obtain divorces.
Approved December 10, 1903.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That whosoever
prinis, publishes, distributes, or circulates, or causes to be printed, pul-
lished, distributed, or circulated, any circular. pamphlet, card, handbill.
advertisement, printed paper, book, newspaper, or notice of any kind, of-
fering to procure, or aid in procuring, any divorce, or the severance, dis-
solution, or annulment of any marriage, and by such publications as
above mentioned offering to engage, appear, or act as attorney or counsel
in any suit for alimony or divorce, or the severance, dissolution, or an-
1ulment of marriage, either in this State or elsewhere, shall be deemed
zuilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof shall be fined not less
han one hundred dollars nor more than three hundred dollars, and the
person so convicted shall, in addition to the above penalty, be disbarred
from practicing as such attorney at law in the courts of this Common-
wealth.
2. This act shall not apply to the printing or publishing of any notice
or advertisement required or authorized by any law of this State or orders
of any court.
3. This act shall be in force on and after the first day of February,
nineteen hundred and four.
