Chap. 13.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 85 of the Code of Virgini:
1887, making registrars conservators of the peace.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section eighty
five of the Code of Virginia, cighteen hundred and eighty-seven, cor
stituting registrars, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 85. Every board of registration provided for by the Constitution o
the years nineteen hundred and two and nineteen hundred and three, o
a majority thereof, shall preserve order at and in the vicinity of the plac
of registration; and to enable it so to do, it shall be clothed with all th
powers of a conservator of the peace while engaged in the discharge o
its duties, and may appoint special constable or constables, not excvedin,
three in number in each magisterial district or ward, and summon the by
standers or other persons in the vicinity to assist 1t whenever, in its judg
ment, it shall be necessary to preserve order.
