Chap. 9.—An ACT to authorize the county of Charlotte to purchase and own
real estate and to dispose of it to the state of Virginia for certain pur-
poses or otherwise.
Approved February 1, 1901.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
of Charlotte be, and it is, hereby authorized to purchase and own such
real estate within the limits of said county as the board of supervisors
of said county shall deem expedient to purchase.
2. The board of supervisors of said county, acting for and on behalf
of said county, is authorized to select such real estate, make payment
therefor out of any funds of the said county under control of said board,
cause the same to be conveyed to the said county of Charlotte by proper
deed, use and dispose of said real estate for the benefit of said county.
3. It shall be lawful for said board of supervisors, acting for and on
behalf of said county of Charlotte, to donate any real estate acquired by
said county as above provided to the State of Virginia, for the use and to
be under the control of the agricultural department of the State, and to
he by said agricultural department used for the establishment and main-
tenance thereon of an agricultural experiment station, model farm, and
institution for the dissemination of practical and scientific knowledge of
the subject of agriculture.
4. When said real estate is disposed of by said county, whether as a
gift to the State of Virginia or otherwise, it shall be conveyed by deed
in the name of the said county of Charlotte, executed by the chairman of
the board of supervisors of said county, attested by the clerk of the
county court, and have attached thereto the seal of the county.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
