Chap. 88.—An ACT validating, ratifying, confirming, and approving an ordi-
nance of the city council, passed December 11, 1900, and approved by the
mayor of the city of Alexandria, on December 13, 1900, authorizing the
Washington Southern railway company to construct, maintain, and oper-
ate a switch or side track in and upon St. Asaph street, between Madi-
son and Pendleton streets in the city of Alexandria and to connect each
end of said switch or side track with its main track in said screet; and to
construct, maintain, and operate turnouts or spur tracks connecting its
main line of railway or said switch or side track at any point or points
between the streets aforesaid with the property of Robert Portner brew-
ing company, and endowing and vesting the said the Washington Southern
railway company with the right, power, and authority to construct, main-
tain, and operate the switch or side track, and turnouts or spur tracks in
said ordinance mentioned and provided for.

Whereas the city council of Alexandria has ordained and passed an
rdinance in the following words and figures—to-wit:
An ordinance authorizing the Washington Southern railway company

ect cach end of said switch or side-track with its main track in said
treet; and to construct, maintain, and operate turnouts or spur tracks
onnecting its main line of railway or said switch or side-track at any
point or points between the streets aforesaid with the property of Robert
Portner brewing company.
First. Be it ordained by the city council of Alexandria, That authority
is hereby conferred upon the Washington Southern railway company to
construct, maintain, and operate a switch or side-track in and upon
Saint Asaph street, between Madison and Pendleton strects, and to con-
nect each end of said switch or side-track with its main track in said
street; and to construct, maintain, and operate turnouts or spur tracks
connecting its main line of railway or said switch or side track at any
point or points between the streets aforesaid with the property of Robert
Portner brewing company.
Second. The right to alter, amend or repeal this ordinance at the
pleasure of the city council of Alexandria is hereby expressly reserved.
Third. This ordinance shall be in force from and after its passage. ©

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the action
of the city council of Alexandria in ordaining and passing said ordinance
he, and the same is, hereby validated, ratified, confirmed, and approved.
2. That the Washington Southern railway is endowed and vested with
the right, power, and authority to construct, maintain, and operate the
switch or side-track and turnouts or spur tracks in said ordinances men-
tioned and provided for.
3. This act shall he in foree from its passage.
