Chap. 80.—An ACT to incorporate the Independent order of true reformers
of Westmoreland county, Virginia.
Approved February 12, 1901.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Robert Garnett, worthy master; Mary Etta Jones, worthy mistress;
Jonah Walker, past worthy master; Erasmus Jones, worthy chaplain;
Cecelia Jackson, worthy secretary; Martha Ann Garnett, worthy
treasurer; Joseph Bryant, worthy guide; Thomas Muse, worthy sentinel,
and all other persons who now or may hereafter be associated with them.
and their successors, shall be, and they are, hereby constituted a body,
politic and corporate, by the name and style of the Independent order
of true reformers, for the purpose of providing for the poor, ministering
to the sick, and burving the dead of this order, and by said name shal]
have perpetual succession and a common seal, and may sue and be sued,
and may enact a constitution and by-laws for the election, government,
and removal of its officers, for the admission and expulsion of its mem-
bers, for the acquisition and management of its property, and the proper
conduct. of its affairs, and for all other matters not inconsistent with
this act and the laws of the state; and may alter, amend, and repeal
the same from time to time, and may acquire and hold property—real.
personal and mixed—by purchase, gift or devise, and may appoint trus-
tees to hold and manage the same.
2. The amount of real estate to be held by said corporation shall not
exceed two acres, as a site for their buildings and such lands as may be
necessary and proper as cemeteries.
3. The said incorporation being entirely benevolent, its capital stock
is fixed at the sum of one thousand dollars.
4, The principal place of business shall be near Colonial Beach, West-
moreland county, Virginia.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
