Chap. 330.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3179 of the Code of Vir-
ginia as amended and re-enacted by an act entitled an act to amend and
re-enact section 3179 of the Code of Virginia in reference to clerks’ offices,
approved February 5, 1900, as amended and re-enacted by an act entitled
an act to amend and re-enact section 3179 of the Code of Virginia in refer-
ence to clerks’ offices, so as to close the clerks’ offices of the courts of
Norfolk county and the city of Portsmouth on all legal holidays, approved
February 9, 1901, so as to close the clerks’ offices of the county of Shenan-
doah on all legal holidays.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
three thousand one hundred and seventy-nine of the code of Virginia, as
amended and re-enacted by an act entitled “an act to amend and re-enact
section three thousand one hundred and seyenty-nine of the code of Vir-
ginia in reference to clerks’ oflices, approved February fifth, nineteen
hundred, as amended and re-enacted by an act approved February ninth.

follows:
§ 3179. Clerks’ offices to be kept open on certain days, records, and so
forth, open to inspection; copies authorized.—The clerk’s office of every
court shall be kept open every day except Sunday during convenient
hours for the transaction of business. The records and papers of every
court shall be open to the inspection of any person, and the clerk shall,
when required, furnish copies thereof, except in cases where it is other-
wise specially provided: provided, that the clerks’ offices of the courts of
the county of Norfolk and the city of Portsmouth and the county of
Shenandoah shall be closed on all days declared to be legal holidays by
the general assembly of Virginia.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
