Chap. 309.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act of the general assembly
of Virginia, approved February 28, 1896, entitled an act to amend and re-
enact section 9 of an act of the general assembly of Virginia, approved
March 8, 1894, entitled an act to provide a new charter for the town of
Clintwood, in Dickenson county.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an act of
the general assembly of Virginia, approved February twentieth, eighteen
hundred and nincty-six, entitled an act to amend and re-enact section
nine of an act of the general assembly of Virginia, approved March
third, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, entitled an act to provide a new
charter for the town of Clintwood, in Dickenson county, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 9. The mayor of said town, by virtue of his office, shall preside over
the meetings of the council, voting only in case of a tie. The said mayor,
upon qualifving as a justice of the peace of said county before the county
court of said county, shall become a justice of the peace of the said
county with all the powers and authorities of a justice of the peace of
said county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
