Chap. 263.—An ACT to authorize and empower Roman Eagle lodge, No. 122,
Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, of Danville, Virginia, to borrow money
and issue bonds therefor, secured by deed of trust, mortgage, other lien
upon its real estate in Danville, Virginia, for the purpose of improving and
erecting buildings on said real estate.

Whereas Roman Eagle lodge, number one hundred and twenty-two,
ancient, free and accepted masons, of Danville, Virginia, has decided to
erect on its lands and real estate, situate on Main and Union streets, in
said city, a new and more commodious building for lodge and other uses
and purposes; and
Whereas the erection of said building and of the necessary improve-
ments on said real estate will require said lodge to borrow large sums of
money ; and :
Whereas it is represented to the general assembly of Virginia that said
Roman Eagle lodge, number one hundred and twenty-two, ancient, free
and accepted masons, of Danville, Virginia, is desirous of borrowing
money not exceeding in amount twenty thousand dollars, for the purpose
aforesaid, and issuing therefor the bonds of said lodge; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That for the
purpose of erecting on its said real estate in Danville, Virginia, a new
building for lodge and other uses and purposes, and otherwise improving
said real estate, said Roman Eagle lodge, number one hundred and
twenty-two, ancient, free and accepted masons of Danville aforesaid, be,
and is, hereby authorized and empowered to borrow money, not exceeding
twenty thousand dollars in amount, and to issue its bonds therefor, se-
cured by mortgage or deed of trust or other lien. upon its said real estate,
or any part or parts thereof, said mortgage or deed of trust, or other lien,
to be duly signed, acknowledged, and delivered by its trustees; said bonds
to bear such rate of interest, with principal and interest payable at such
times and periods as a majority of the members of said lodge attending
a regular stated communication may determine and decide. And said
majority of members attending such regular stated communication, shall
also determine and decide whether said bonds shall be coupon or regis-
tered bonds, and the dates thereof.
2. That upon the determination and decision of a majority of the
members of said lodge to borrow the money herein aforesaid, issue the said
bonds and secure the same by a deed of trust. mortgage, or other lien
upon its said real estate or any part or parts thereof, the trustees of said
Roman Eagle lodge, number one hundred and twenty-two, ancient free
and accepted masons of Danville, Virginia, shall have the power to exe-
cute such mortgages or deeds of trust, or other lien, as may be necessary
to secure such bonds as may be issued by said Roman Eagle lodge, num-
ber one hundred and twenty-two, ancient free and accepted masons, in
pursuance of this act; said mortgage, dced of trust. or other lien to con-
tain such conditions and stipulations as may be adjudged requisite; but
said trustees shall not be personally liable for the payment of any such
bond or bonds.
3. That a certified copy of the resolution passed and adopted at such
stated communication of said Roman Fagle lodge, number one hundred
and twenty-two, ancient free and accepted masons, under the seal of said
Roman Eagle lodge, shall be conclusive evidence and proof of the regu-
larity and legality of the action of said lodge, and the acts of the trus-
tees and lodge hereunder.
4. This act shall be.in force from its passage.
