Chap. 178.—An ACT to provide for ascertaining, retracing, re-marking, and
re-establishing the boundary line between the State of Virginia and the
State of Tennessee.
Approved February 15, 1901.
Whereas the Supreme court of the United States, in a certain suit
pending in said court, wherein the state of Tennessee is complainant and
the state of Virginia is defendant, has entered a decree appointing com-
missioners to ascertain, retrace, re-mark, and re-establish the boundary
line between the state of Virginia and the state of Tennessee; and
Whereas by the terms of said decree, all the costs incident to the ascer-
taining, retracing, re-marking, and re-establishing the said boundary line
are required to be paid by the states of Tennessee and Virginia equally ;
and
Whereas it is estimated by the commissioners appointed by the Supreme
court of the United States that a sum of ten thousand dollars is necessary
to defray the total expense and cost incident to the execution of said
decree ; ,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the sum of
five thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be, and
the same is, hereby appropriated for the purpose of paying one-half the
expense and cost incident to ascertaining, retracing, re-marking, and re-
establishing the boundary line between the state of Virginia and the
state of Tennessee.
2. That upon the payment of said sum, or any part thereof, itemized
accounts in duplicate, accompanied by proper vouchers, shall be sub-
mitted by the commissioners to the governor, and if approved by him, to
be transmitted to the auditor of public accounts to be paid in the regular
manner provided by law.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
