Chap. 169.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 8 of an act entitled an
act to require railroad companies to provide separate cars for white and
colored passengers, approved January 30, 1900, relating to the persons to
whom the act shall not apply.
Approved February 15, 1901.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
eight of an act entitled an act to require railroad companies to provide
separate cars for white and colored passengers, approved January thir-
feth, nineteen hundred, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
ollows:
§ 8. Be it further enacted, That the provisions of this act shall not
apply to employees on railroads, or to persons employed as nurses, or to
officers in charge of prisoners, whether the said prisoners are white or
colored, or both white and colored, or to the prisoners in his custody, nor
shall the same apply to the transportation of passengers in any caboose
car attached to a freight train, nor to Pullman cars, nor through or ex-
press trains that do no local business.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
