Chap. 154.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3537 of the Code of Vir-
ginia, with regard to allowances to deputy sergeants of certain cities.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
thirty-five hundred and thirty seven of the code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 3537. The judge of the corporation or hustings court of the cities
of Richmond, Petersburg, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Alexandria, and New-
port News may, with the consent of the council of the said cities, make
an allowance to pay the necessary and proper salaries to such number
of deputy sergeants as said judge shall consider needful, and such allow-
ance shall be paid out of the treasury of the said cities.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
