Chap. 57.—An ACT to incorporate the board of trustees of the ministerial
relief fund of the general assembly of the Presbyterian church in the United
States.
Approved December 23, 1901.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That Russell
Cecil, Robert P. Kerr, Jere Witherspoon, J. Calvin Stewart, S. H. Iawes,

George R. Cannon, John 8S. Munce, J. N. Cullingworth, C. D. Larus,
John A. Coke, and William R. Miller, and their successors, be, and thev
are hereby, created a body politic and corporate by the name of the
Board of Trustees of the Ministerial Relief Fund of the General Assembl+
of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, and by that name shall
have perpetual succession and a common seal. The said board may con-
tract and be contracted with, may sue and be sued, plead and be im-
pleaded, and for the purpose of collecting and distributing a fund for the
relief of the disabled ministers of the Presbyterian church in the United
States and for the relief of the widows and orphans of deceased ministers
of said church, the said board shall have power to receive and hold such
gifts, legacies, and devises as may be made to or for it at any time or in
any way, upon the same terms and limitations as are now prescribed by
law. And it shall also have power to use and dispose of such gifts, lega-
cies, and devises as it may deem best to carry out the objects for which
this corporation is formed. The said board shall also have power te
solicit and collect all such contributions, either in money or property, a:
may be made to it for the above purposes from time to time, and hold ot
dispose of said money or other property for the purposes for which it 1:
formed as it may deem best.
2. The said board shall have power to fill vacancies in their own body
whenever such vacancies occur, the person to fill such vacancies to be
chosen from the said Presbyterian church in the United States. It shall
also have power to appoint such officers, agents, or attorneys as it ma}
deem requisite to carry out the objects for which it is incorporated, and
fix their compensation, to exact from any of them such bond or othe:
security in such penalty as the board shall direct, conditioned for the
faithful discharge of their duties.
3. The said board shall have the power to make such by-laws as it mai
deem necessary and proper for the transaction of its business, and as ar
not inconsistent with the constitution and laws of the United States anc
of this State.
4, Five members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of an
business of the board.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
