Chap. 991.—An ACT for the relief of Samuel J. Nunnalley, a disabled Confed-
erate soldier,
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Samuel J. Nunnalley, sixty-four vears old, a partially dis-
abled Confederate soldier of company NK, twenty-first Virginia regi-
ment, second brigade, Stonewall Jackson’s division, was a true and
brave soldier during the late war between the states, was loyal to Vir-
ginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from rheumatism contracted while in
the service of the Conicderate states, which entirely disables him a
large portion of the time from every kind of physical labor; and
Whereas he is entirely without means of support—
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Nottoway county shall examine into the condition
of said Samuel J. Nunnalley, a Confederate soldier, and if it shall appear
that he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that he is
now afflicted by rheumatism consequent upon his services in the army,
that he is for a large part of his time totally incapacitated for manual
labor, that he is needy and poor, and should receive aid from Virginia;
and if the county court of Nottoway shall send a certificate of said facts
to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public
accounts is directed to place the name of Samuel J. Nunnalley on the
pension list and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and
after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
