Chap. 979.—An ACT to authorize the president of the Jefferson hotel company
to appoint, with the approbation of the hustings court of Richmond, a police
agent, who shall be authorized to act as conservator of the peace upon the
premises of the said company.
Approved March 7, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
president of the Jefferson hotel company, Richmond Virginia, may,
with the approbation of the hustings court of the city of Richmond,
appoint one police agent, who shall have authority upon the premises
of said company to exercise all the powers which can lawfully be exer-
cised by any constable for the preservation of the peace, the arrest of
offenders and disorderly persons, and for the enforcement of the laws
avainst crimes, and such president may remove such agent at. his
pleasure: provided, that all compensation to such police agent shall be
paid by said company, and that the hustings court of the city of Rich-
mond may, at any time, revoke its consent. And said police agent may
cause any person so arrested by him to be detained and delivered to
the proper authorities for trial as soon as practicable. Such police
avent shall wear an appropriate badge.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
