Chap. 966.—An ACT to authorize and regulate the erection and maintenance
of wires for telephone. telegraph, electric railway, and other purposes over
or across the works of anv company chartered as a work of internal im-
provement, or over or across the wires of any telephone, telegraph, electric
railway, or electric company.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That if anv
telephone, telegraph, electric railway, or electric company deem it nec-
essary in the construction of its works to cross any railroad, canal
turnpike, or county road, or the wires of any other telephone, telegraph
electric railway, or electric company, it may do so: provided, such
crossing does not impair the safety or impede or endanger the opera:
tions of the railroad, canal, turnpike, telephone company, or telegraph
company, electric railway company or electric company, which is tc
be crossed: and provided, that such company erecting such wires over
or across any such works or lines shall support the same by and main-
tain all proper and needful structures, fixtures, and approved appl.
ances, so as to afford the utmost protection to the employees of the
company whose right of way or lines it is crossing, and to all other
persons.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
